Post-Massacre Backlash

March 21, 2019

Read this yesterday. After Columbine…

“The adult reaction was frenzy and fear utterly disproportionate to the actual risks faced by teenagers, whose world, statistically, is much safer than it was three, two, or (especially) one decade earlier. In high schools across America, the months after Columbine were marked by false alarms, SWAT drills, stern speeches, and strict new codes for dress and behaviour that students have accepted with little dissent. The actual numbers didn’t matter. Both teens and adults were apt to vastly overestimate…”- p39, Millennials Rising; Howe and Strauss (2000)

New Zealand’s over-reactive backlash has only just begun. Already people are being charged by police for being “upsetting” and it emphasised that a kid may face 14yrs jail for re-posting media content. Maybe there’s a case to answer, we’re not being told yet few complain because we’re so ready to conform.

Tomorrow, Friday, the New Zealand State is using State Broadcasters to air a minute’s silence x 2 (why the extra above and beyond?) Women are encouraged to express themselves during this time but not as themselves or their own culture but to appropriate Muslim standards for the occasion. And, this ‘silence’ is to be filled with the Muslim Call to Prayer. This is a government that has deleted the Christian prayer compromise of our 1853 parliament in the name of secularity yet they’re now dropping this on us…

“Allah is great.

“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.

“I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Look for more over-reactions as the months roll on. Policing how people dress and what they say has already begun but only just begun, if history is any guide. As Graham said today,

The concept of ‘lock-down’, ostensibly during times of emergency only, is becoming more widely used and accepted, and this acceptance is now spreading to more than just the physical locality but also to information dissemination even as the period of lock-down is increasingly extended beyond the original emergency.

Meanwhile, in Italy today,..

A Senegalese migrant set a bus full of children on fire in Italy as part of a pro-refugee protest against the deaths of asylum seekers attempting to reach Europe.- ref. Infowars

Painfully, Tarrant is still moves ahead of the rest of us. It is exactly this sort of (far from out of the ordinary) terrorism he sought to draw our attention to because we were not listening. And it was exactly this sort of weakness and pandering in our State he wanted us to know and to draw out so we could react. Not content with patiently explaining and waiting until we in The West caught on to the fact that we were being replaced or terrorised into acting like eternal victims he sought to provoke it so we would see. Son of a bitch is being proven right by the ongoing over-reaction. Message to Prime Minister: Stop giving him the satisfaction!
