What A Wonderful World

February 4, 2020

Anarchists are the ones who appreciate diversity and pluralism and multiculturalism in their proper and authentic sense. The State has a nose for sniffing out what people prize and value, and a talent for levering those things to gain and keep power. All the confidence tricks and propaganda used to rule us draw their power from authentic virtue. Politicians consume virtue like food because pretending to be part of it, even being the leaders in it, provides the cover they need to keep on closing dirty deals.

“Oh, I need to wave a flag and yell “Dominion” to exploit you? OK”

“Oh, I need to champion the poor and give away some free stuff to exploit you? OK”

“Oh, I need to kiss babies and raise the minimum age to rule you? OK”

“Oh, I need to act like I care about the environment and Social Justice exploit you? OK”

Don’t Let Them Have It

Why the should we ‘celebrate’ stuff? So we throw a party for dialects and languages? A picnic for German Opera? A public mural for sushi and bagpipe music? Shall we ‘celebrate’ Allah or Thor or transexuals with some air plane sky writing or street parades or the surrendering of our firearms? What’s the idea here?

My own point of view is that we ought personally celebrate and enjoy all the different ways people like to express themselves. So long as we have the same economic culture- the capitalist bedrock of live and let live values- we can worship and create and eat and drive and buy and sell anything we like. I don’t have to personally use this or that accent or like this or that art or eat that food. There is pleasure just in sitting here watching the wheels go ’round and ’round. Or, as Satchmo expressed it..

I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do
[…]
I see babies crying, I watch them grow
They’ll learn so much more than I’ll ever know
[…]
I see babies crying, I watch them grow
They’ll learn so much more than I’ll ever know
Then I think to myself what a wonderful world
Then I think to myself what a wonderful world

It’s a wonderful world, rich with interesting people of all types who make the world go ’round. They’re quite aware of what they’re going through and don’t need any State help to do it. They don’t need to be saved or forgiven, funded or subsidised. We have nothing to fear from people who talk funny or eat funny things so long as we share the common currency of property rights; Non-initiation of force. On the contrary, we’re all made better off by having genuine (and non-forced) diversity in the world.

Another seemingly random song in my head; Rasputin- Boney M.

Cultural Appropriation Level: Gold

German group, Jamaican singers, Sing in English, About a Russian dude, Adapting a Turkish folks song

And loving it.
