Omicron Omnicrock

Africa has not been fielding a team in the international Health Theater Sports.

“But there is something “mysterious” going on in Africa that is puzzling scientists, said Wafaa El-Sadr, chair of global health at Columbia University. “Africa doesn’t have the vaccines and the resources to fight Covid-19 that they have in Europe and the US, but somehow they seem to be doing better,” she said.”

“Fewer than 6% of people in Africa are vaccinated. For months, the WHO has described Africa as “one of the least affected regions in the world” in its weekly pandemic reports.” – Africa avoids Covid disaster – scientists are mystified and wary, NZ Herald, AP

Unfortunately, this captured the headlines last weekend so an example had to be made.

“The discovery of a new coronavirus variant has sent a chill through much of the world as nations raced to halt air travel, markets fell sharply and scientists held emergency meetings to weigh the exact risks. “- ‘Variant of concern’: WHO names new Covid strain Omicron, as it spreads to Europe; ZB, AP

This weekend Africa is on a no-fly list and within 7 days has apparently got COVID worse than anybody anywhere.

Sounds a little suspicious to me. All a bit sudden, as if the media reporting didn’t follow a discovery so much as the media reporting prompted a ‘discovery’. Is Omicron an Omnicrock?
