Colonised English

September 13, 2019

By NZB3

English-speaking New Zealanders have our own spelling, own pronunciation, own points of view just like Maoris do.

Let’s make a deal. We wont try to colonise you if you stop trying to colonise us?

“Chris Smith, a tutor of Te Reo Māori at Ara Institute of Canterbury, shows us how to say Canterbury place names that are often mispronounced.”- Canterbury Māori names – and the ones you’ve been saying wrong all this time; Stuff
How many times in one article can they ram home the opinion that English pronunciation is INCORRECT….

“make the effort to learn and use the Politically Correct pronunciations”

“he was unfamiliar with the Politically Correct pronunciation growing up.”

“I remember the first time I heard it pronounced Politically Correctly”

“but the Politically Correct way is my-de-hoe”

“We have this issue with people pronouncing it Politically Correctly, ….we’re pronouncing things Politically Correctly…everyone can pronounce it Politically Correctly “

(note: All quotes are accurate however I have added the word ‘politically’ in front of every ‘correct’ I saw.)
