Dark Fate

Terminator Dark Fate is about to drop at the movies- will it be as good as the first two films? I refuse to under-estimate these film-makers so expect this film to stand up beside the first and second Terminator movies.
The Terminator saga is a repeated experiment in testing the modern family against the modern world. The 80s film showed us that the old formula of protective man and the protected woman is not enough; She has to accept his training (and his disposability) and protect herself.
The second film showed us that a reformed sociopath and a psychopathic mother can survive at great cost. They barely fend off the enemy without while the enemy within is the breakdown of the family. Dad died, mom is incarcerated, son is abandoned to foster care and well on his way to a life of crime.
Terminator Dark Fate is trying to crack this existential crisis with a new infantry. Arnie and Sarah are blunt instruments, Boomers with resources and little understanding in the background. The pair bond of man and woman is dispensed with (disposable male left to burn in first 20mins of the film.) We’re set to see if two women, fertile protected and infertile (Rosie-the-rebar-and-chain-riveter,) can make it in this brave new world.
If they can…will there be a next generation at all? If so, will there be any protective males (or non-foe males) in it? Looking forward to finding out what these film-makers can show us. The most disruptive thing they could do would be to run a fair test and show that, yes, you need a husband and a father. Yes, you can avoid having your pregnancy (John Connor) terminated AND have him (the next generation of mankind) grow up sane and virtuous. We shall see!
