Slum Surveillance

March 30, 2020

By NZB3

New Zealand’s history is the history of slum housing. In general, a Liberal/Labour Government builds slums and then a National Government knocks them down. For example, Central Government built State Houses in 1905 (Liberals) and 1937 (Labour 1.0.) Unowned, there is no incentive to look after the non-properties so they usually degenerate into slums. A National Government then comes to mop up. For example National 1.0 demolished the Okahu Bay Slum at Orakei, Auckland, in 1951. National 5.0 had a system of demolishing State Houses on the pretence of being toxic with methamphetamine until Labour 6.0 laughed that Mop-Up Programme away in 2018.

Hidden Homeless

Currently, then, we have a growing slum crisis. Labour 6.0 are a soft landlord to a growing Slave Culture. Poor health, squalor, crime, and abusive parenting are all outcomes we can expect. So far this has not featured much in the media but mark my words it soon enough will be.

“Tucked down a West Auckland driveway in a corrugated iron double garage lives the Crichton family.”

“Samoan lavalavas are attached to the ceiling for insulation and towels hang from makeshift clotheslines over beds and dressing tables.”- Garage life for two years; Stuff (2013)

Samoans and other Pacific Island families don’t expect much more from life than the conditions they knew before they came to live in New Zealand State Houses. Turning a 3 bedroom house into a home for 10 is the equivalent status to being some village chief back home, I suppose. Turning a garage or a carport into a common area and bedroom with some iron and a $5 tarp from The Warehouse is their ancestor’s idea of palatial living. Running water, electricity, street lighting and paved roads, indoor toilets and bathrooms, wifi…..bring your children and grandchildren! Fill it up!

This is the real crisis facing New Zealand housing. The “Hidden Homeless” have leveraged existing housing stock beyond its limit by over-employing it. Our Victimhood Culture State cannot say “no.”

In the warm season, especially, these iron and tarp projects expand. Feels just like home, right? Then, come winter, the illusion is shattered as New Zealand’s climate turns on the immigrant from the tropics. More than a seasonal flu from cold and wet, the next great epidemic has its stage set.

“Surveillance fears over plans to put sensors in state houses”

The State (Housing New Zealand/Kainga Ora) know of the coming crisis but, being Labour 6.0, choose to ignore it (at least until Winter 2020.) However, they have started watching these growing slums more closely by making 160 “Smart Homes” with 2,000 more to follow during Winter 2020.

“From next May, Kāinga Ora – Housing New Zealand’s successor – wants to begin installing multiple sensors in up to 2000 state houses as part of its Smart Homes project.”- Surveillance fears over plans to put sensors in state houses; RNZ

When the criticism comes about over-crowding and cold, sick, slum families they will be ready with this for an answer. They will be able to say they are monitoring and have data to defend themselves with and they will have the justification to expand the surveillance project yet more.

“The sensors would measure internal humidity and temperature, carbon dioxide levels, light and air pressure, and external temperature and humidity. In some houses, sensors would also collect information about power consumption on up to six separate circuits in each house.”- ibid

Humidity and CO2 data in particular would help measure over-employment of the State housing stock. However, I think they know about this already and don’t really want to know more about a crisis that is building. Besides, it wont measure who is living in a walled up carport where there is no electricity or sensors or even smoke alarms.

Then, why the surveillance devices?

I don’t see Big Brother trying to put eyes in the walls so much as Labour 6.0 trying to make some money. Some MP’s nephew or spouse wants to get paid lots of money for installing and running an expensive sensor network. The information is pretty useless but 8 years of State funding to play with tech sounds like the sort of junk scheme Labour would come up with.

“Labour 6.0 seem to be doing a crappy job of using their political power to make any serious money from being in office. Shane Jones is gathering pollen around the regions like an old pro though (Provincial Growth Fund.) So far Nash sold a few fireworks to dairies and Davis has sold a few slushy machines to prisons; It’s so small time! If Nash wants to be Prime Minister like his grandad then he needs to make some proper money by becoming an arms dealer and that’s what this is about.”- Gun Buy-Back Scheme; NZB3

Labour 6.0 is pretty bad when it comes to these fundraising schemes. I remember thinking Labour 5.0 tried to get everyone to buy their associate’s light-bulbs¹ by banning the competition a few years ago. That idea is a scam that could make a party some money and that Government knew how to pull something like that off. Labour 6.0 are still learning and unsure which is why there isn’t even a Minister’s name attached to the Slum Surveillance Scheme yet.

Update: What I described above has not come to pass. Why? Because a fake crisis, the COVID Hysteria, was used to pre-emptively contain it…

“Otago University public health professor Nick Wilson told Morning Report seeing a reduction in respiratory diseases was surprising.

“Far fewer people were getting cough and fever symptoms. The lockdown did stop these viruses from circulating.””- Fewer deaths in lockdown than previous year; RNZ

Update: The Prime Minister will not be so explicit but appears to be relaying the same message in the following clip..
