Why Can’t We Have A State?

At some point you realise that all politicians do, all they ever can be, are opportunists who rely upon public lack of attention. Whatever we are soft about gives an opportunity for them to put some policy in place. Whenever we’re looking in another direction, that’s the essential opportunity for a politician to react.
They don’t lead, they react in the guise of leading. They don’t make opportunities, they wait for them and strike as they arise. Far from unusual for a politician to strike while our guard is down, it’s their *entire* modus operandi. Never be surprised by that!
Long before a given Government is observed in these acts they have reshuffled their actors or re-branded their agencies. If that tactic fails then we simply vote in a different coloured Government in our two-party system and do it all over again. That’s why we can’t have a state.
