After the General Election we will, finally, get to met Chris Luxon. Who the hell is he?

Yes, you’re right. It would be ideal to know him prior to electing him but he can’t have that can he? A known quantity. Instead he has done everything he can to mirror Red Chris. The old true National Party method of “the status quo seekers.” Be like the other guy and just ‘win’ because you’re not them.

It’s a bit like changing a towl or socks or a shirt for another identical one just on the basis of the new one being a bit newer. The old one wasn’t really dirty as far as you know but, look, put the new one on and remove all doubt.

Only after being elected will we actually meet Blue Chris. We have absolutely no idea who he is or what he will do. That is absolutely by design. So are the carefully focus-group-tested “ad libs” being dropped into the news cycle over the course of the campaign. What kind of consumers are we to be buying this Myster Box product? Caveat emptor!
