Splashing Policeman

More scandal in the police service..
“An on-duty policeman has made waves as an impromptu participant in the Z Manu World Champs in Auckland today….”For me personally, it was a chance to have a positive impact. .. It also showed the human element of policing,” Kahui said.”
The NZ Herald headline was ‘Watch: On-duty officer makes a splash in Manu World Champs in Auckland’ but as is often the case it now reads ‘Watch: Auckland policeman, Vincent Kahui, makes a splash in Z Manu World Champs’.
This is a stunt that Police Public Relations would have had to clear at head office. Unlike regular people jumping into the new government swimming ‘pool’ at Auckland viaduct this constable will have had memos and meetings before hand. It had to be sanctioned, calculated, considered, approved. Then filmed and sent off to Nazahryth Bernard for reporting.
This reporter says on his LinkedIn profile he hopes to “use his skills to aid and represent my people to the greater public” while making money. In other words, Identity Politics is his objective and means of income. It looks like the police are sending lots of ‘news’ via Bernard. It was he (with Raphael Franks) who set out to doxx those participating in Destiny Church’s protest of the children’s drag show at Te Atatu Library. And got it wrong.
When Destiny or a non-official gang promote themselves in public they don’t get paid by you like this policeman. Nor do they get positive media spin provided by the Mainstream Media. Quite the opposite.
Do you want uniformed policemen showing up to compete in chess tournaments, tennis matches, or fishing competitions? How about dance Competitions. Dungeons & Dragons, Comedy Improv night, Pokemon Go, busking?
Police are using us and our community events as a PR exercise to make us like them and include them and trust them. Their work is supposed to do that all on its own and be more than enough. So why isn’t it?
