Jason Mika’s Welcome Mat?

What the hell was I listening to from Doctor/Professor Jason Mika on Monday morning? It sounded like he was welcoming in our new Chinese overlords on behalf of New Zealand China Council. Better play that back again…
“A New Zealand China Council report says the ancient historic connection between Maori and Chinese people is a point of difference in diplomatic and business meetings. And says Chinese leaders are often receptive to Maori culture, giving New Zealand favour and future deals and negotiations. Report author Professor Jason Mika says it gives New Zealand a competitive edge once a level of trust and understanding is formed.” – Newstalk ZB 5.30am, 24/2/2025
“Meanwhile, hopes New Zealand will make better use of its Maori culture and diplomatic missions with China. A New Zealand China Council report says Maori and Chinese people have a historic connection and similar worldviews and values. These Chinese leaders may be more open to trade and business deals if they’re interacting with other Maori leaders. Report author Professor Jason Mika says it’s in New Zealand’s best interest to send Maori diplomats to China. It’s definitely a competitive advantage, but at the same time, once the relationship is formed, you’ve got to be able to deliver on the promise of that relationship.” – Newstalk ZB 6.00am, 24/2/2025
What’s your initial reaction to that? Here was mine:
Mika (“Tangata Whenua”) is
A) Dividing New Zealanders into 2 people
B) Claiming his people, Maori, have superior diplomatic ties with China
C) Offering to “save” white people from the Chinese if they will only..
D) Hand power over to Maoris now while there is still time!
It’s pretty straight down the line what the man is saying. Hand over New Zealand right now to Maoris and in return they’ll do what they can to make things comfortable for white people in the new regime.
It’s the most Fifth Column thing I’ve ever heard on mainstream radio. Apparently it represents the views of the author of a report from the New Zealand China Council called Te Hono a te Ao Māori ki a Haina: Māori approaches to engagement with China past, present, future. As he is lead author of this report it seems reasonable to think Jason would be representing it and the Council accurately in these soundbites.
Note: China is making moves on New Zealand territory right now (Cook Islands) and making independent deals with its leaders. They are also diverting our air traffic and firing their guns into the Tasman Sea from battleships parked up within it. Our Government is preparing to increase our defense spending in response and sending the Foreign Minister Winston Peters to China to try to fix this problem. Ref. Mr Peters Goes to China, NZB3
“…Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown is flying off on Monday (10/2/2025) to Beijing on Monday to sign the “Joint Action Plan for a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”. …China has just dropped $30,000 with the promise of more on Samoa. The little fishing village around the wreck of our HMNZ Manawanui are getting a payday after our Diversity Hire Navy Commander Yvonne Gray crashed our $100 million ship into their rock.” – Chinese Tiger Trouble, NZB3
China is literally eating away at The Realm of New Zealand, seducing pieces of it at a time with shiny bling.
We are trying to make a great effort to influence the Islands to stay in the family and not ride off with the Chinese Tiger in his nice car and fat wallet. Trying to explain to them not to sell out the relationship and not throw NZ under the bus to get in bed with Beijing. Suggesting, even, that if they join the Chinese Empire they may enrich a few ‘leaders’ for a time but their nations will lose their autonomy and sovereignty. We worry that the Islanders might give in to short-term thinking bail on us.
Well here’s Jason Mika sticking his hand up to do just that! Apart from putting New Zealand itself at risk his report is undermining our very credibility. Our own damn side is falling apart.
Mika is the Harry Ellis of this Die Hard situation. Remember the movie. Robber-Terrorists have seized the corporate community of Nakatomi Plaza hostage. Bruce Willis (as John McClane) is trying, with little support and few resources, to get the hostages out of the jam. New Zealand is very much in the position of McClane including in his attempts to summon help from the big guns and being left to go it alone.
Ellis steps in to represent the ‘Islanders’ and sells out McClane/NZ by giving away its secrets and weaknesses. He’s the equivalent to the enemy within the city walls who opens a back door to the invading army in the hopes of being rewarded for his treachery. McClane, thanks to Ellis, loses the tactical initiative. Ellis is shot dead having outlived his usefulness.
Already New Zealand’s Government must be drawing back from sharing information and ties with the Islands. When there are people like Ellis among them who might spill our data, strengths, and weaknesses it means we cannot trust them. So, we withdraw from each other. The trust is broken preemptively, the attachment severed. McClane will have wished that Ellis didn’t know half of what he pretended to know about him. But in withdrawing preemptively we are already hurting our relationship and playing into the hands of foreign powers.
And, as Mika is showing, it is even taking effect on mainland New Zealand. How can our Government trust Maoris with any information or role that can be used to hurt the country? Mika and his co-authors and his Council are already offering to be the Harry Ellis of this story right out loud in public.
The New Zealand China Council probably isn’t funded directly or indirectly by China. They don’t need to be. There’s always a Harry Ellis in any population or gene pool. A beta male who waits until things look choppy for the alphas so he can step in and capitalise. It’s an evolutionary strategy that works enough that such organisms live among us. Hey, but maybe we shouldn’t be promoting them to the top of academia eh? Or making them instructors in our highest schools of learning? Or paying them to lead reports on foreign relations and promote them?
You see, Harry/Jason has already made New Zealand weak. He has demonstrated that his group cannot be trusted and must be rejected and excluded from power in academia and politics because they are explicitly out to betray us. What group is he part of? Communists? Maoris? Whatever it is- these are the ones whose free speech and ideas and careers and participation in democracy are going to be rendered suspicious. Because otherwise they’ll deliver us up for dog tucker. Yet, by provoking this reaction he also radicalises those innocents who look like him because they’ll rightly see that they are being treated as outsiders and not trusted to a higher position within New Zealand Inc. So, there will be lots more Mikas within our country who resent their nation and will want to see it fall for something else.
This is some spooky stuff that is not being talked in the national conversation. That is, except that by not reporting on it and by pulling it from news reports beyond early morning are a way in themselves of signalling about it.
We are in trouble.
A quick word on the Anarchist perspective though. See how we get into such a silly mess by having a State? Rival thugs like our government or China’s government are really in the same business. Our government cannot claim any higher morals. Dazzle and bling is really how we got the Islands in the first place so what moral leg do we have to stand on when China does it and does it better? But if our bonds of union were voluntary, Anarchist, we would be stronger. Our security would be based on love rather than power and money. I wish we were having that conversation instead.
