Speechless Surfer Girl

Just having a listen to some Aussie news today and they’re excited about a girl who won a surfing competition, Isabella Nichols.

She is interviewed on the water and gives a fluent, long, rapid-fire sound bite that ends with “I’m speechless.”

Full interview is even longer! She starts off with ‘I’m lost for words’ and ends with ‘I’m speechless’.

In a time where words have little meaning and people misuse the word ‘literally’ to mean ‘figuratively’ this is the best example I’ve yet seen of the phenomena. If you haven’t heard it- Millennials are saying things like “I’m literally on fire,” or “This just killed me, literally” to emphasise their point. Literally stopped meaning literally.

No need to get grumpy about it or cross with surfer girl. She’s just a great example of her type. And I’m writing it down in my weblog.
