Effect of Cancel Culture

New Zealand culture is still in the throes of Victimhood Culture. (Or, to put a proper clock on it, more toward Slave Culture by this point but that’s another story…)
In a Victimhood Culture setting we don’t solve our problems or seek understanding at a personal level we call in an HR boss. So, we live and work in a Fascist bubble where Wrong Think and Wrong Speak (or just being relaxed and yourself) can get you done in.
People in the Out-Group (for example, White Men) are unwanted, rejected, and a pretense is sought to exclude and cancel them. In our ‘enlightened’ times we cannot simply own up to rejecting a group because of its sex or skin colour so we target associated traits. For example, when black men in the past were to be rejected they were got at by way of their drug of choice (marijuana) and their music (jazz.)
Two examples of this sort of thing have come across my desk this week.
Firstly there was a member of the Taupo District Council who was obviously a bother to the rest of the group. He wanted to keep rates down. He wanted proof of contamination before the Council buildings were abandoned in favor of being a tenant of the new Taupo Tribal Technodrome up the street. In other words he, John Boddy, was a menace to the swindlers. Ref. 2020: The John Boddy Problem, AHNZ
How did they rid themselves of this turbulent representative of the voters? They took fake offence at an old idiom he used and butchered his character. Job done!
Secondly, an example from a comment to AHNZ…
“I was censored and lost a forthcoming pay rise for using a saying to a Filipino who appeared not to understand the reference, but due to cultural pussiness, didn’t ask me what I meant. He instead asked his boss who, being Aussie, and female, started a grievance on his behalf.
The saying? “Well blow me” as in “down with a feather”. An expression of great surprise.
Not a literal request for him to perform fallacious.

What can a Greg or a John do to survive in this toxic environment?
The only way to survive is to dehumanise yourself from friendly contact because every human connection is a potential trap. Gestures, words, sayings, attitudes, even a gaze can be Game Over. When you’re in the Out Group there’s no need to treat you justly. They just want you cancelled and ruined and will leap on any excuse to do that. The New Conformity will consider this perfectly justified by a contortion of circular reasoning: This person is bad therefore it’s OK to judge them as bad. Due Process is not, in their minds, the fabric of society but a privilege of individuals that can be withdrawn on the basis of allegation and suspicion. And, allegation and suspicion are ‘established’ simply by someone being in an Out Group.
Greg and John could try to swim in this toxic environment that wants them dead. Or, they could just leave of their own accord. Self-erase. The only way to stay is to self-erase those parts of themselves that can be used against them. This is why Mike Pence wouldn’t be alone in a room with a woman and why Keanu Reeves’ holds his arms out in every photo (see image above.)
This conformity, this Slave Culture, has taken over our mainstream now. Every government department, every business, has been tipping its hat and bowing to the Woke Conformity for years. They want to be popular, they want to stay in trade, they want to sell magazines and be invited to parties. They avoid authenticity because it isn’t safe. They colour their very lives within the lines that someone else has drawn for them and the lines can change any time without warning. Indeed, you can be done for historic crossing of these lines decades before anyone knew about the new ‘Wrong’. Historical figures, long dead, are also cancelled for lacking in the current Conformity even though we may have only just arbitrarily decided what it was yesterday. Their statues are toppled.
So, you’ve got three choices:
1. Give up and quit society until the Victimhood phase runs its course.
2. Participate by being hypervigilant and drinking your own cortisol the entire time. Slave Culture. Join Horizontal Enforcement attacks on anyone who doesn’t do this too; Failure to do so will bring suspicion to your own Woke credentials.
3. Find or create your own non-Woke space.
Anarkiwi is, of course, door number 3.
