Hamilton’s Christmas Parade Tax

Hamilton’s Christmas Parade tax is now so large that those wishing to participate with a float will now have to pay for it. Inaugural fee set at $50.00.
“Organisers of the First Credit Union Christmas Parade have introduced a $50 entry fee for groups wanting to put a float on show, alongside a $300 charge for businesses. Schools will still be able to enter free.” – Waikato Times
We already pay for the roads and all their rules, including the expensive ‘well being’ provisions. That is why rolling down the main street once a year costs tens of thousands of dollars apparently.
Without government who would run Christmas?
The parade is run by the Te Awamutu based (wait, what?) Hamilton Christmas Charitable Trust.
[just do it anyway and call it a protest. those seem to be welcome]
Tens of thousands are paid to The State for their clipboards, road cones, and hi-vis flying monkeys to patrol us. Least we mishandle a piece of unregistered tinsel.
