Prime Ministers Science Prize

April 14, 2021

By NZB3

Some serious deja vu here as the Prime Minister yet again hands out government-sponsored prizes to the same government cheerleaders for the second time in as many weeks! The Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year just wrapped up and now it’s time for the Prime Minister’s Science Prize.

Once again, Jacinda Ardern is awarding a Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence Award to her loyal backers. Chiefly, the usual suspects of Dr Siouxsie Wiles, Professor Michael Baker, and Shaun Hendy. Hendy also gets a 2020 prize to go alongside his 2020 New Years Honours. Baker’s prize sits alongside his Wellingtonian of the Year Supreme Award from last month. And, of course, Dr Wiles just received the New Zealander of the Year.

I mean…are we done yet? Can this government and its cronies stop patting themselves on the back and handing each other awards now? We get it. You think you’re ruling wisely and are great. You don’t want us to come to that conclusion ourselves and need to attend televised presentations of how awesome you want us to think you are then shove it in our faces.

Well, so noted!
